How Attitudes to Mental Health Issues Have Changed

'It’s the only half-hour in the week when I feel truly understood,” emailed one recent listener to All in the Mind, the BBC Radio 4 series dedicated to mental health, which celebrates its 25th year on air this month. Yet when the programme was launched in 1988, public attitudes were such that people with mental health problems were even less likely to feel understood than they are today.
